[Question] More and more pregnant mommies are smart nowadays and want natural treatments. Are there any essential oils that are contraindicated in pregnancy? Any oils or homeopathic remedies that can help with preterm contractions? ( maybe raise progesterone levels naturally?). Thank you.
[Marie’s Answer] May I recommend a great resource for use of essential oils ( also herbs) during pregnancy, childbirth and for infants and young children.. written by Debra Raybern ( certified in various holistic modalities including aromatherapy, master herbalist and naturopathy). This book also contains actual testimonials! It’s called “Gentle Babies” . To answer your question about which essential oils to stay away from.. any synthetic, adulterated essential oil, carrot seed and tancy. Some others like clary Sage should not be used during pregnancy but is actually helpful during labor to help with dilation and contraction. For preterm contractions lavender is your friend!! But it must be 100% pure!
