Whom God Would Destroy…

  5. Whom God Would Destroy…

Charleston, South Carolina – Back in the day, when dealing with malevolent opposition, if I had a chance to draw them into battle that would reveal their malevolence, I would take it even if the odds of prevailing in the particular battle were nearly non-existent. Revealing, in a high-profile way, the malevolence of a particular group is money in the bank, long-term. It takes iron discipline, fortitude, and focus to pull it off. But when done successfully, even with a loss in a particular battle, it has the power to destroy the whole malevolent project.

I watch in awe, admiration, and wonder as Donald Trump has put the left and the establishment media in this position. He is winning – and will win – most of the battles on the way to his complete rout of the woke, godless, leftist project in America! Yeah, Trump may lose a nominee confirmation or two…and perhaps a couple of the flurry of lawsuits the Deep State has mounted against his administration. But in doing so, they have made themselves dead men walking. They are busy advocating against the obvious interests of the American people at the top of their lungs. They have shrieked at the top of their lungs over the potential shutdown of USAID, which turns out to be the leftist slush fund for political cronies in left-wing NGOs and fomenting color revolutions to make other countries into the image of woke.

It shockingly turns out that 5,000 people in the FBI were involved in the J6 prosecutions. Sheesh! No wonder the FBI could not stop mass shooters and terror plots that it had been warned about well ahead of the offense. It was too busy persecuting political dissent – jailing people walking through the Capitol, grandmas praying in front of abortion clinics, parents questioning school board members, and traditional Catholics.

In EVERY instance, while Trump is acting to protect the interests of ordinary Americans and to return bureaucrats to the service of the people rather than acting as petty satraps ruling contemptuously over them, Democrats and the media have been publicly and loudly standing with the satraps. Whatever victories the left gains in these fights will be purely pyrrhic – and will lead to their further undoing. It is unhinged madness on the part of the left.

I really think there is a reasonable chance that before Trump’s term is finished, the Democratic Party will cease to exist at all. Oh, there will be an opposition party, but it will likely be a left-leaning party that is not moonbat insane. The current model for Democrats and media, for all the snorting, shrieking, and obscene caterwauling on behalf of an unaccountable Deep State just isn’t sustainable. When your primary message to the public you are supposed to serve is that there must be NO accountability for bureaucrats or the money they spend and, hey, let’s hire 80,000 new IRS agents to investigate you, you are headed to the ash heap of history no matter how many normal folks you burn along the way.

The air traffic controllers for the tragedy over Washington, D.C. last week were short-staffed. Turns out once the FAA decided to prioritize DEI in hiring, 2,000 qualified applicants had been turned away because they were white men. When your devotion to DEI is so dedicated that you would rather hire no one at all rather than hire a white man your insanity has not just metastasized; it has gone terminal. DEI was touted as being a palliative for the Jim Crow laws of 70 years ago. Turns out DEI was just Jim’s brother, Jack, in blackface. Good riddance to both of the Crows.

Who would have thought there would be a gang of radical, vegan, transgender, serial killers rampaging across the country? But there is. The murderers of the Vermont Border Patrol Agent on inauguration day are tied to this group. This has got to be the most Biden-Harris woke era story ever. No formal word yet on whether Democrats and the media will condemn the killings or declare it a big step forward for vegan trannies in their fight for equality with more traditional cisgender, white, male serial killers.

Can you see now why, for most of my life, I could not fully believe what I was seeing in my purported visions? I could not get too worked up against folks who thought I was just a bit crazy in a functional way, because from 1963 until the mid-90’s, that seemed the most likely explanation to me as well. I have not enjoyed watching the fevered visions of my youth become our daily reality, but it is incredibly comforting to watch the dawn of a great awakening. And now, if we stay awake with steady resolve, our long, global nightmare will lift and whimper away in the light of reality.

I have always been a free trader – but with a caveat. I think free trade best serves all nations. However, allowing one side to mount tariffs and massive restrictions while the other does nothing to protect its markets is NOT, to my mind, free trade. It is more like knowingly sitting in a fixed poker game, thinking you can make up your mounting losses by playing harder. That’s just a formula for going bust quickly. Free trade must be accompanied by what I call “mirroring.” That means my country supports fundamentally pure free trade – so we will trade with yours on the same terms you trade with ours. If you want hefty tariffs and restrictions, we will apply identical terms to anything you want to sell in our country. That is what I mean by free trade.

That being said, I also agree – with Ronald Reagan – that punitive tariffs are a good short-term tool in geopolitical diplomacy. Donald Trump is making that into an art form. Huzzah!

Our own Sheryl Collmer’s latest piece in Crisis Magazine is one of her very best ever. The first few weeks of the Trump administration has been an ongoing celebration of traditional Americanism that makes people like me simultaneously giddy with joy and flushed with blessed relief. Sheryl’s piece captures that dichotomy as well as any I have seen.

About a month ago I told some folks that I was going to ask Bishop Joseph Strickland to speak at our CORAC Conference this summer (July 11-13). I waited until we had the venue contracted and plans were concrete. Alas, some folks started repeating this in the form that Bp. Strickland WOULD speak there. I guess some people think I need merely say the word and it is done. They have me badly confused with Someone Else. Bp. Strickland currently has other obligations at that time and will not be able to speak at our conference. I am keeping the slot open for a few weeks in the hope that the conflicts might be lifted and arrangements made. But it does not look likely.

The major subtheme I am working to display with the speakers at this conference is the celebration of people who showed courage when it was most needed, when there was a price to be paid for speaking up. Confirmed are Kansas State Sen. Mike Thompson, who along with John Coleman of Chicago, was one of the very few chief meteorologists in major television markets to push back against “climate change” hysteria. Also speaking is David Daleiden, founder and president of the Center for Medical Progress, whose decade-long battle against Planned Parenthood and abortion has been downright legendary. Bp. Strickland would have been a great addition, as he has balanced his authentic duty of fidelity to the Magisterium with his authentic duty of obedience to authority better than any Catholic public figure out there – and at great personal price.

People who are in a position to do this and actually do so are the real people who make things better, safer, and freer for all of us – and they should rightly be celebrated as the heroes they are. As fast as things are going right now, new heroes are emerging every week. There is no shortage of heroes we will be able to get for our conference. If, somehow, Bp. Strickland’s scheduled commitments cleared up and left an opening, I would love to have him. But we will have a hero. I would tell you some of the names I have in mind, but…

Meantime, may you all keep in mind, when I voice a wish, that my wish is no one’s command. But I’ll keep on plugging – and I am grateful so many of you are plugging along with me.

If communication goes out for any length of time, meet outside your local Church at 9 a.m. on Saturday mornings. Tell friends at Church now in case you can’t then. CORAC teams will be out looking for people to gather in and work with.
