  5. Sustainable Living Teams – Our Purpose

Sustainability during a crisis is not always the doomsday picture that many imagine – such as societal collapse, every person for themselves, cities in ruin, lone survivors hiding out in the wilderness, and the zombie apocalypse.

We who serve on the Sustainable Living Teams are intent on helping other people develop the confidence and practical skills to not only survive during a serious crisis, but thrive under any challenging circumstances, whether living on an extensive, remote parcel of land or in a modest apartment in a dense urban jungle.

It’s a collaborative effort that encompasses many essential and diverse skill sets such as gardening, animal husbandry, food and water preparation and storage, construction, sanitation, general repairs, trading, hunting, fishing, blacksmithing, sewing, spinning, weaving and so much more.

Together, we encourage and build each other up by learning why survival skills are important, how to prudently prepare for disaster survival, and what to do in the event of an emergency so that we can support, assist and minister – with the prayer of doing – to any soul in need placed in our paths by God.

“We only need to open our eyes to see the gifts that abound all around us. These are the simple joys in life.”

St. Genevieve (Patron Saint of Disasters)
