  5. Prayer Teams – Our Purpose

We who serve on the Prayer Teams will offer a dome of protection and a bed rock of support from which springs God’s Grace infused in CORAC’s good works.  Embracing the core message of TNRS-ASOH: Acknowledge God, take the next right step and be a sign of hope to those around us, we partner with God and participate in sanctifying this blessed organization and its worthy calling. Yes, we all have power to sanctify, for each of us was baptized priest, prophet and king.

Joyfully, then, we bring to fruition these words from the decree, APOSTOLICAM ACTUOSITATEM, promulgated by Pope St. Paul VI on 11-18-1965:  “In the Church there is a diversity of ministry but a oneness of mission. Christ conferred on the Apostles and their successors the duty of teaching, sanctifying, and ruling in His name and power. But the laity likewise share in the priestly, prophetic, and royal office of Christ and therefore have their own share in the mission of the whole people of God in the Church and in the world.”

From this decree, we’re reminded that praying is not just what you do when your circumstances do not allow you to publicly participate in CORAC. The Prayer Teams, certainly, play a vital role in the mission.

How, you might wonder, are we to pray when we sign up for duty in this particular work of CORAC? No matter your current spirituality, whatever devotion you already practice, and in whichever kind of fasting or ascetical practice you engage, ALL can be offered for the ongoing work and intentions of the CORAC mission. And a major, ongoing focus will be to draw down the Holy Spirit upon us and our work as well as into the hearts of Abba’s children who will be searching for meaning in the disarray amidst the height of the Storm, the better for each of us to ignite in the lost, weary and broken, a fire of desire for the Living God.

Without prayer, we have neither light nor strength to advance in the way which leads to God.

St. Alphonsus de Maria Liguori
