[Joe] Fall planting after soil is <50 degrees, 6 inches deep, with a very thick layer of mulch. That’s really all there is to it. It will emerge in spring. You can harvest the scapes for pesto or stir fry or whatever, which is good to do just before they flower so the energy goes to the bulb. I’ve tried spring planting but it just doesn’t produce as well for me.
[Jacob] Ditto the fall planting, but I don’t plant that deep. I just use more mulch (I hate weeding). Plant them right side up!Â
