Mary Higgins of Holyoke, Massachusetts—a friend of CORAC—learned about now-Saint Faustina Kowalska and the Divine Mercy image as a child. In her youth, she read Saint Faustina’s diary and fell in love with Jesus.
Mary writes, “I married, settled down, began my teaching career, and over the years drifted away from my First Love. But praise be to God—His mercy found me again in 2014. Since that moment of return, I have carried a renewed desire to share His message of Divine Mercy with as many people as possible, so they too can hear His loving voice speaking to their hearts . . . and fall in love with Jesus as I did.”
This renewed love impelled Mary to begin a new ministry: Divine Mercy Ministry to Seniors.
The ministry’s website explains:
“Divine Mercy Ministry to Seniors is a Catholic ministry dedicated to bringing prayer, meaningful companionship, and the healing message of Divine Mercy to seniors living in nursing homes and assisted living communities.
“Many seniors experience loneliness, isolation, or difficulty attending Mass and participating in parish activities. Through small prayer groups led by caring volunteers, we bring a welcoming Catholic faith community directly to them.”

In all of this work, Mary collaborates closely with the Congregation of Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary at The National Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
Mary attended the July 2026 monthly meeting of the CORAC National Prayer Teams Committee. From this, our member Elizabeth Wilda created a nine-minute video about the ministry.
