[Mick] A couple of weeks ago, Jacquie and I were talking about Lycopodium clavatum (the herb, not the homeopathic remedy). Jacquie wanted to make some; and we were trying to figure out how to do it, since none of our books contain a formula for it. After digging around on the internet for a while, this is what we came up with:
- Use the powder of the dried whole herb rather than just the powdered spores. The herb powder can be purchased from Herbies Herbs and Monteagle Herbs, both out of Canada. The common name for this plant is Club Moss.
- The formula is 1:5, 50%, plus vinegar (one dry ounce of herb to 5 ounces of liquid, with the liquid being 50% alcohol and 50% water; add 2 tablespoons vinegar per pound of dry herb, in order to draw the medicinal alkaloids out of the herb into the liquid).
- Directions for making the tincture:Â Add herb to the required amount of Everclear; shake daily for 1 week. Then add the required amount of water and vinegar, and shake daily for 2 weeks.
Jacquie wants to make this tincture because it is used in a few Banerji protocols (reference: the spiral-bound Materia Medica of the Banerji Protocols). If I wrote them down correctly when Jacquie was listing them, some of the protocols are cirrhosis of liver, reflux, typhoid, intercranial tumors, kidney disease, salmonella, sinusitis, hiccups. Jacquie, did I get those right?
[Jacquie] Also, a good indication for Lycopodium where it is indicated there will be either urinary or digestive disturbances.
