Norovirus Remedies

Novovirus

[Carolyn] Is there just one Norovirus remedy? Does it go by another name? I don’t know if I have it?

[Karen] I have a couple of remedies: one from Ellen Bench that lists norovirus and the other I got from the health food store in Hamilton that also was for flu/norovirus.

[Mick] Great suggestion, Karen; thanks. Other remedies to consider having on hand are Arsenicum, Nux vomica, Aethusa, Veratrum album, Ipecac, Tabacum, and Cuprum met. Murphy’s MetaRepertory has a rubric: “Clinical… Vomiting… forcible” on page 2507. There are about 30 remedies listed. There are no tier-1 remedies; but there are three tier-2 remedies: Aethusa, Ipecac, and Veratrum album. The MetaRepertory also has the following rubric at page 2514: “Clinicals… Vomiting… violent.” There are about 50 remedies listed. Again, no first-tier remedies. But there are nine second-tier remedies, including Aethusa, Ipecac, and Veratrum. (Some of the other second-tiers are Arsenicum and Tabacum, which are fourth-tier remedies in the forceful-vomiting rubric). Nux and Cuprum are either third- or fourth-tier remedies under both rubrics. All seven of these remedies are also indicated for diarrhea, another serious symptom of the norovirus. In sum, along with the nosode, I would want to have all seven of these remedies on hand if someone in my family had the norovirus.

[Mick] P.S. I just skimmed through the two additional articles to which Karen linked. The second one mentioned China/Cinchona. That would definitely be an important remedy to give someone who has the norovirus, because the vomiting and diarrhea would cause dehydration. (For those who might not know, China/Cinchona is a remedy for all kinds of ailments from all kinds of fluid loss.)

[Marilyn] This might be a good one to have the kit already made up from the remedies you have plus the description that is found down the page starting with aloe. Not something you want to be in the middle of and wish you had the remedies in a concise place. And have on hand either homemade or purchased electrolytes packets.

[Anne] I’ll be adding the nosode for Norovirus to my Influenzinum kit, & it will be available by itself.  This is to be taken once monthly as preventative. I’ll also be doing a class on this next week, covering recommended remedies.  China is for sure one of them.
