A Letter For a Friend

Posted on 2025-10-31

A SAMPLE GO FORTH INITIATIVE

We often do a good job of telling our spouse and children that we love them, but we typically don’t do this with our friends. Probably because it seems lame, weird… or even soft. Well, get beyond those silly objections, because it’s not.

Tempted to once again shoot them a quick text with yet another cat meme? Yeah, that would be easy, wouldn’t it… not so fast!

Give a friend the gift of good old fashioned letter.

Tell them how much they mean to you. In your own words and handwriting. In great detail.

In writing this letter – a heartwarming tactile thing your friend can look back on and clutch to their chest during rough moments when they can use a boost – open up about how much their friendship means to you. Recount the many joys they’ve brought to your life. Share with them how grateful you are that God arranged for you to cross paths in life. Let them know the many ways they helped shape you into the person you are today. Thank them for all the honest feedback over the years, the emotional support, the sense of belonging they provided, the
guidance, the new experiences they shared with you. And finally, don’t forget to share with them your hopes for their bright future.

You’ll never regret writing this letter, but there may come a day when you surely regret not writing it.
